Swingsets Rainbow Cost Of Swing

The color of feelings, Kathryn Stockett

Presentation Editor:
Among Whites in Jackson, Mississippi, black women are doing the housework, cooking and caring for children. It is 1962, racial laws are authoritative. In forty years of service, Aibileen learned to hold his tongue. The insolent Minnie, her best friend, just get fired. If things escalate, she will seek employment in another city. Maybe even into exile in another country, as Constantine, we no longer review here since, for reasons unmentionable, the Phelan have fired. But Skeeter, the daughter of Phelan, is like no other. Back to Jackson after graduating, she insists on discovering why Constantine, who raised with love for twenty-two years, left without even leaving a note. A young middle-class white and two black good. Nobody would believe in their friendship, much less condone it. Yet, driven by a secret desire to change things, despite the fear, they will unite their destinies, and in secret to write a story upsetting.
Exciting, funny, poignant, The Color of feelings has conquered America with its unforgettable characters. Sold over two million copies, this first novel, a genuine cultural phenomenon across the Atlantic, is a pure joy to read.

Me:
When I started reading it, which surprised me, probably because I had not quite realized where the story took place, was the behavior of these women's mothers families to their servants who were black. But the story takes place mostly in the 60s, slavery has been abolished for quite some years and people of color are almost treated as yet.

The story is shared by three votes: Abileen that opens the novel, which was occupied by 17 white children, of Minnie, her best friend who can not help saying the substance of his thought and earned him back on returns, and the last is a young white woman who wants to be a writer Skeeter. Between
Skeeter and two other black women not to close. Miss Skeeter is more sensitive to their conditions. Waiting to write a book, she is an apprentice journalist and need the help of Abileen. When
proposes an idea for a book by a publisher, Skeeter tries to convince his people to help them understand this is a chance for them, or at least relate to them because it's good.
So begins a wonderful project to be born, a beautiful relationship between people despite their difference in skin color. Each speaking, they tell us their fears reprisals suffered their category of people. The idea of Miss Skeeter scares them, and reluctant to confide ... When Miss Skeeter, when with her, she will bear less of the whining about black friends, these good women who help more than anything cooking, cleaning, and kids. Itself must be careful to hide her writing project for who knows what might happen.
course, beside, there are personal issues that these characters racontrent ...

The author had to do extensive research to write on such a sensitive subject, there 's not the nice one side and the other evil. When one reads the voice of one of three characters, you feel their feelings. Each to their characters, there are moments where I smiled because fortunately there are traces of humor. Especially when you know that Minnie was the daughter of horrible the former employee and she does not want to talk about it.
For me it's a novel to read.
